slathering ferocious jaws
breaking through the locked front door
crimson gashes on the floor

home alone TV’s on
seconds crawling towards the dawn
here beside and between
the Friday night machine

whistles call out just one more
somewhere close to half past four
drain the hour till it’s full
circumvent the golden rule

steam punk gauges marking time
pistons pump hydraulic grime
spilling forth like ebbing tide
the world turns on its side
